A Timeless Country Retreat
A 17th-century gem – brought totally up to date – with roots tied to the renown Wickham family and their illustrious ancestor, William of Wykeham (1320-1404). Rising from humble beginnings, William became Bishop of Winchester and founded Winchester College and New College, Oxford; his enduring motto, “Manners Makyth Man” is echoed throughout the house and grounds.
Expansive Grounds & Unique Features
Nestled within 39 acres of stunning gardens. Meander through the manicured grounds, enjoy a match on the private tennis court, or unwind by the croquet lawn. For a touch of whimsy, visit the estate’s charming private pub, complete with outdoor seating overlooking a landscaped pond—a magical setting for alfresco gatherings. At the bottom of the valley there is a serene private lake for a leisurely row.
Perfect for Gatherings & Celebrations
Designed with entertaining in mind, the house boasts magnificent reception rooms, making it an ideal choice for large family gatherings, celebrations, or a weekend escape. Highlights include:
- A grand drawing room, cozy snug, cinema room, and study.
- A spacious open-plan kitchen and dining room with direct garden access, perfect for sharing meals and memories.
- Accommodation for up to 18 guests across 11 bedrooms and nine bathrooms with seven ensuite (bedroom breakdown PDF: Bedroom-Accommodation-Hampshire-Place)
The former Coach House provides additional flexibility with a well-equipped gym downstairs and upstairs two further [staff] bedrooms, two shower rooms, a sitting room and a kitchen.
